5-Minute Karivepaku Majjiga – The Ayurvedic Summer Drink You Need!

Karivepaku Majjiga or Curry Leaves buttermilk is buttermilk made with curry leaves and added spices. Karivepaku majjiga is a gut friendly recipe to beat the summer heat. It is very hot outside, to keep ourselves hydrated we need to take plenty of liquids. Always drinking water is boring, so sometimes try new recipes.

My mother used to make different varieties of buttermilk and keep them in refrigerator. So that we can have whenever we feel like. During summer holidays we always have guests at home. Some of them come to our place only to enjoy different varieties of buttermilk.

Curry leaves are good for health mainly during hot summers and also during early rainy season. They stimulate digestive enzymes which helps in the efficient breakdown of food in return reduce indigestion. Curry leaves are a good source of vitamins and minerals, contribute to a stronger immune system. 

The curry leaves, according to Ayurveda, have bitter and astringent properties. It aggravates the pitta dosha and pacifies vata and kapha doshas.

Karivepaku Majjiga can be prepared in really 5 minutes. Simply grind all the ingredients and serve immediately. Adding other spices like dry ginger powder, fennel seeds powder is our choice. If you want them you can always add all other spices. But I like it in this way only simple and gut healthy.

5-Minute Karivepaku Majjiga – The Ayurvedic Summer Drink You Need!

Karivepaku majjiga or curry leaves buttermilk to control our thirst and to keep cool during hot summer days.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Cup Fresh Curd home made or store bought
  • 1 tbsp Curry Leaves
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds Powder
  • 3" inches long Ginger
  • Salt to Taste

Instructions
 

  • Cut ginger into small pieces.
  • Discard curry leaves from the stems.
  • Wash and keep them ready.
  • In a blender jar add all the ingredients, ginger pieces, salt, cumin seeds powder and curry leaves.
  • Blend them to make paste.
  • Add curd and blend it again till it turns frothy.
  • Adding ice cubes is a choice.
  • Pour the curry leaves buttermilk in serving tumblers.
  • Add little water if the buttermilk is thick.
  • Serve Karivepaku majjiga chilled.

Notes

Take fresh curd, we can use home made or store bought curd.
Karivepaku majjiga is neither too thick nor too thin.
The texture of it is like that of sweet lassi.
