Salt Lassi | How to make Salt Lassi

Salt Lassi, lassi is another buttermilk based beverage. Normally it is served during summer season.

Salt Lassi

Salt lassi is very simple and easy recipe, can be made anytime during the day. We prefer to offer simple buttermilk or chaas to guests during hot summer days. Instead of simple buttermilk add extra masalas and make lassi to impress upon.

Salt lassi requires very less ingredients. There are lot of benefits of it. It keeps our body heat under control. It not only keeps the body temperatures under control but also keeps us hydrated for a longer time.

We get masala lassi in tetra packs, but I like to make it by myself and serve.
I always prefer to homemade curd for any buttermilk or curd based recipes. So I always keep 1 litre curd made at home handy to make lassi whenever feel like.

If homemade curd or buttermilk is not available you can use store bought buttermilk or curd anytime. But take care that it should not be sour in taste.

You can find different varieties of summer drinks below:

Key Ingredients in Salt Lassi:

  • Curd/buttermilk: Use fresh curd or buttermilk. It should not taste sour.
  • Spices: Use spices like ginger, and green chillis to get best aromatic flavor.
  • Lemon: Lemon elevates the taste and also helps in digestion.

step by step procedure:

  1. Finely chop ginger and green chillis.
  2. Blend curd and water.
  3. Add the spices and blend again.
  4. Add coriander leaves, mint leaves, they help as cooling agents too.
  5. Blending in a mixer jar helps in forming froth and makes lassi more appealing.
  6. Add lemon juice before serving.
  7. Serve chilled.

Try making lassi as simple as possible and serve it chilled. Add as many ingredients as we like to and in different ways is also our choice.
