Pesarapappu Pachadi Recipe | Moong Dal Chutney

Pesarapappu pachadi is a simple, comforting chutney made with moong dal and added spices. It is from Andhra Pradesh in South India. There are two variants of this pachadi.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Cup Moong Dal/Pesarapappu
  • Salt to Taste
  • 7 to 10 Red Chillis
  • 1 Tsp Asafoetida
  • 1 Tbsp Tamarind
  • 1 Tsp Cumin Seeds

Ingredients for Soaked Pesarapappu Pachadi

  • 1 Cup Moong Dal/Pesarapappu
  • Salt to Taste
  • 7 to 10 Red Chillis
  • 1 Tsp Asafoetida
  • 1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 Tsp Cumin Seeds

Instructions
 

  • In a blender jar add all the ingredients one after the other.
  • Add Moong dal, red chillis, tamarind and salt.
  • Add cumin seeds and asafoetida too.
  • Grind all of them to make coarse pachadi.
  • Check salt and if required add it.
  • The moong dal pachadi is in semi solid state.
  • That's all!!! moong dal pachadi ready to serve.
  • Transfer the pachadi into serving bowl.
  • Serve moong dal pachadi with hot piping rice and a spoon of oil.

Instructions for Soaked Pesarapappu Pachadi

  • Soak green gram for half an hour to one hour.
  • Combine all other ingredients, except lemons to mixer grinder.
  • Grind them to a fine paste.
  • Check the salt, if necessary add little.
  • Squeeze juice of two lemons directly into the pachadi.
  • Mix it well and transfer this to serving bowl.
  • Serve pesarapappu pachadi with hot piping rice and spoonful of oil.

There is nothing specific notes to follow. Simply follow the instructions and make the pachadi. 
There is nothing to spoil in the recipe so just simply make it and enjoy it.
