Ugadi pachadi recipe, Ugadi pachadi is a special dish made in Telugu households during Ugadi festival. Ugadi means starting of new era or new year according to the Lunar calendar it falls in months of March or April. It is made in almost all Telugu households . The taste and procedure may change depending on their preference.

Ugadi pachadi is a concoction of 6 main elements or tastes. The main feelings of life depict in this Ugadi pachadi. Salt, sweet, tangy/astringent, spicy, bitter, sour – by tasting all these tastes on the new year day we can fix all these emotions in our life equally. Ugadi pachadi is a very simple, no cooking recipe. Just mix all the ingredients and that’s all!! It is ready to serve.
Some people add black pepper instead of red chilli powder for spicy taste and some add banana to give a nice binding texture. Whatever is the habit of our home tradition we follow. Some use very less neem flowers to avoid bitterness, some add more jaggery to enjoy sweetness. It is believed that whatever is the taste we first feel while having Ugadi pachadi, the entire year ahead would be like that only. It’s only a believe. I make it in large quantity as our people accompany it with plain toor dal.
