The word “Karam” means spicy, and “Gavvalu” means shells.

- 1 Cup Wheat Flour
- 1 Cup Maida/All Purpose Flour
- Salt to taste
- 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
- 1/2 tsp Ajwain
- 1 tbsp Hot Il/Butter at room temperature
- Oil for Frying
Mix all the ingredients in a wide plate except oil.
Mix them well and add water little by little and make smooth dough.
The dough should be like that of chapati dough.
Cover it with a damp cloth.
Allow it to rest for 15 mins.
Make small roundels of the dough.
Then using gavvalu maker make all gavvalu.
Keep them covered with a damp cloth.
Heat oil and drop the prepared gavvalu into it.
Drop as many as can be fried easily, do not over load the oil.
Fry them in medium flame till they turn golden yellow or they float on oil.
Transfer them onto a kitchen tissue and let the excess oil absorb.
Keep them in an airtight container and serve whenever feels like.
