Ingredients

  • 4 Corn Kernels
  • 1 cup Fresh Coriander Leaves
  • 1/2 cup Curry Leaves
  • Salt to Taste
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 tbsp Til/Sesame Seeds
  • 1 Onion finely chopped
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  • Deseed the dorn from the kernels.
  • These are desi corn not the sweet corn.
  • We may try with sweet corn also but they taste a bit sweet.
  • Wash them well.
  • In a blender jar add the corn and blend it to a coarse paste.
  • Do not add water.
  • Transfer this paste into a mixing bowl.
  • Add chopped coriander leaves, curry leaves.
  • Add salt, red chilli powder and a spoonful of sesame seeds.
  • Add chopped onions, it is purely optional.
  • Mix all of them well and check the consistency of the dough.
  • If you found a bit sticky and unable to make patties, we can add little rice flour.
  • Spread a clean cloth on the kitchen top.
  • Make small patties with the dough on the cloth.
  • This would absorb the moisture present in the dough and also absorbs less oil.
  • Heat oil on a high flame till the fumes appear.
  • Reduce the flame and slowly drop each mokkajonna garelu into the oil.
  • Fry them till they turn crispy outside and cooked well inside.
  • Transfer them onto a kitchen tissue.
  • Repeat the same with all the garelu.
  • Serve hot crispy mokkajonna garely with any chutney of your choice or sauce.

Notes
