Badam Milk Recipe | How to make Badam Milk at home

Badam milk recipe is a flavoured milk with almonds and sweeteners. A traditional beverage available in every household in most of India.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Badam/Almonds
  • 10 to 15 Cashew nuts
  • 10 to 12 Pista
  • 1/2 ltr Milk
  • 1/4 tsp Cardamom Powder
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 3 or 4 strands Saffron

Instructions
 

  • Soak badam/almonds and cashew in hot water for 6 to 8 hours.
  • Remove the skin of soaked badam, and grind it to make a smooth paste
  • Keep some of badam and cashew aside and chop them.
  • Along with cashew nuts grind them to make a smooth paste.
  • Soak saffron in little milk.
  • In a thick bottom kadai add little water and add milk.
  • Let the milk boil till half.
  • Add badam paste and mix it well.
  • See that there won't be any lumps formed.
  • Allow the badam milk to boil for a minute.
  • Add sugar and mix it again.
  • Let the sugar also dissolves completely.
  • Add chopped pista, cashew and badam, we kept them aside.
  • Add soaked saffron along with the milk.
  • Let the milk boil for a minute.
  • Lastly before switching off add cardamom powder.
  • Pour the badam milk in serving tumblers, top it with some chopped pista, almond and cashew.
  • Serve badam milk chilled or warm depending on the season.

Notes

Soak badam at least for 3 to 4 hours, if not soak them in hot water for half an hour.
Adding pista and cashew gives a creamy texture, if you don't want you can skip them.
Saffron gives a nice colour to the beverage. 
Try to use full-fat milk, if not 3% fat milk also tastes nice.
