Besan chilla or besan cheela. Besan chilla or besan cheela is an instant breakfast recipe. Besan chilla is a delicious Indian savoury pancake made with gram flour or besan and some condiments.
Besan chilla helps in weight management and it is healthy too. Fill the besan chilla batter with lots of vegetables. So that the besan chilla recipe become more palatable.
I normally add only onions and tomatoes but if you like you can add other vegetables also like carrot, beans, capsicum etc., to make it a healthy besan chilla recipe.

Step by step by procedure:

In a wide bowl combine all the ingredients like besan, curd, green chillis, chopped onion, chopped tomato, ginger, salt, turmeric powder and red chilli powder. and make thick batter

Add water and make thin batter. The batter should be in pouring consistency.

Heat dosa pan and pour a ladleful of dosa batter. Gently spread the batter with the ladle. Do not over spread it.

Add a spoonful of oil. Cover and cook for 2 minutes.

Gently flip and cook for another minute.

Serve with your favourite chutney.

Ingredients:
- 1 Cup Besan/Gram Flour
- 1/2 Cup Curd
- 1 onion
- 1 Tomato
- 2 or 3 Green chillis
- 2″ long Ginger
- 1/2 tsp Ajwain/CaromSeeds
- Salt to Taste
- 1 tsp Coriander Leaves
- 3 to 4 Curry Leaves
- 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1/2 tsp Red Chilli Powder
Procedure:
- Chop onion, tomato, ginger and green chillis.
- In a mix bowl add besan, salt, turmeric powder and curd.
- Mix them well. Add red chilli powder, ajwain and cumin seeds.
- Give a nice stir to avoid lumps.
- Add water little by little to make the batter.
- The consistency of the batter should be like that of dosa batter.
- It should not be too thin or too thick. Just pouring.
- Add all other ingredients like, chopped onions, tomatoes, green chillis and ginger.
- Let the batter rest for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Give a nice mix and make chillas after 15 minutes.
- Heat dosa tawa, pour a ladle full of besan chilla batter.
- Gently pat the batter to spread on the tawa.
- Do not over spread, this would make the chilla break.
- The besan chilla should be 1 or 2mm thickness only.
- Sprinkle little oil on the chilla.
- Cook for 2 minutes on low flame only.
- Once cooked on one side flip it and cook for another 2 minutes.
- Cook for another minutes and serve.
- Serve besan chilla with mint chutney or onion chutney.
