Murukku or murukulu is a traditional South Indian snack made with flour. It is deep-fried savoury served as tea-time snacks.

Challa murukku or challa murukulu recipe is a deep-fried snack made with rice flour and sour curd.

3 cups Rice flour 1 and 1/2 cup Sour Curd Salt to Taste 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder 1/2 tsp Sesame Seeds 1/4 tsp Ajwain Oil for Frying
– Add rice flour, salt, and red chilli powder, ajwain and sesame seeds in a wide mixing bowl. – Combine all of them well. – Add whisked sour curd.

Combine them and add water gradually and make a smooth pliable dough. Knead it well. The dough should be crack-free. Cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
Step 2
Heat enough oil to fry murukku. Grease murukku mould, put a small portion of murukku dough. Gently press murukku in hot oil, or on a greased plate. Fry them in a low to medium flame.
– Gently turn and cook 2 to 3 minutes or until the desired colour is reached. –Transfer the murukku onto a kitchen tissue. – Repeat the same way with rest of the dough. – Serve challa murukku with a hot cup of coffee or tea.
