-1/2 kg Beerakayalu/Ridge Gourd -salt to taste -1/4 tsp turmeric powder -2 to 4 tbsp-sesame seeds powder -3 tbsp oil
Ingredients
Peel the skin of the ridge gourd and cut them into bite size pieces. Put them in a colander and wash thoroughly.
Step 1
Heat a kadai add sesame seeds and 2 or 3 red chillis. Dry roast them till the sesame seeds splutter.
Step 2
Transfer them onto a plate and allow them to cool completely. Grind them to make a fine powder.
Step 3
Heat oil in a kadai, Add beerakaya pieces. Add turmeric powder and salt. Mix them well and cover and cook. Cook till the vegetable turns soft and mushy.
Step 4
While stirring occasionally without burning the vegetable. Once the beerakaya turns soft and mushy add the above made sesame seeds powder. Mix it well and cover and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes. Serve with rice.
